My kids are my world. I take their health very seriously. I do all that I can to make sure they're okay, as I'm sure everyone who has kids does but sometimes things happen. Whether it's common childhood illnesses like asthma and broken bones or bigger challenges like birth defects or cancer, I'm happy to know there are hospitals like Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals that are around to provide comfort, treatment and hope to millions of sick kids.

Did you know?

  • One in 10 kids in North America is treated by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals each year
  • Every day, member hospitals treat 16,000 children in emergency rooms
  • Every hour, member hospitals provide surgery for 97 children
  • Your support helps provide 32 million patient visits for 10 million kids every year
  • U.S. members hospitals provided $3.4 billion in charity care in 2012

To show support for the organization and the one in 10 kids in North America who are treated by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals each year, Walmart and Pampers have teamed up to donate $200,000 in the month of June. If you have babies in diapers, you can help by buying Pampers Swaddlers at your local Walmart, where portions of the proceeds will go to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. You can also visit Walmart.com/cmnh for more information and how to make your own donation.

Why do Children's Miracle Network Hospitals need your support?

Your donation can help a child like Belle, age 9, from Georgia who has gone to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for a Kidney Transplant.

It’s impossible to separate Belle’s medical story from that of her family. Indeed, it was her bad kidneys that ended up saving her mom’s life, and allowed Belle’s dad to give a portion of his. Soon after being born, Belle was diagnosed with a kidney disorder that causes excess protein and results in body swelling. Doctors estimated Belle’s organs wouldn’t last more than 18 months. To everyone’s surprise, Belle’s kidneys showed unexpected improvement for the next several years.

At age 5, Belle’s kidneys began to fail, and dialysis was administered. Luckily, both parents were donor matches. They decided mom Michelle would provide her kidney, pending a full body exam. Doctors discovered two malignant breast tumors just in time, and intense radiation and chemotherapy led to remission. Dad Kyle stepped in as donor, and today they’re all thriving — with Belle loving Disney Princesses, dancing, cheerleading and becoming a whiz at the piano.

CMN Hospitals funds have provided for the hospital’s highly ranked transplant program, where Belle received the majority of her care since a baby.

If you have had a personal journey with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, I'd love to hear about it in a comment below. Also, in honor of Walmart & Pampers' wonderful donation to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, we are giving away a $25 Walmart Gift Card – feel free to enter below. 🙂
