Growing up, I was used to moving from town to town. From a young age, I knew my parents had a limit, it seemed, to how long we were going to stay in a town. Before I started school, we moved a couple of times but once I started school, it looked like we would stay in town for a while…only to move 4 years later. After another 4 years in the new town, they decided to move again. So imagine my surprise that we have, to this day, stayed in the same town for 15 years. But now that my siblings & I are all grown, my parents decide it's time for change & have put the house for sale.
Looking at this Moving Trends in the U.S. infographic below, I notice that my family aren't the only ones who are always on the move! Only 37% of Americans stay in their hometowns which means the majority of Americans are always on the move!
Packing & having to move things from one place to another (especially if there's a lot of stuff) can be a very dreadful task…..but it doesn't have to be! My parents are wanting to move to a smaller house so a lot of things are going into storage. Luckily there's companies that you can call, like 1-800-Pack-Rat, who brings a portable storage to YOU – that way you don't have to pack stuff into a truck & then pack them again into a storage unit. It's super easy & is sure to making moving a more pleasant experience for those 15+% of Americans who move every year! I've only heard great things about them so I'm sure we're going to use them when the time comes.
What about you guys? What percentage do you fall into? Do you usually pack & take everything you own when you move or do you like to use storage units?
