Frankenweenie is the story about Victor Frankenstein who's best & only friend is his dog, Sparky. As the movie progresses, Sparky unfortunately gets into an accident. During a Science lesson, Victor gets inspired to bring Sparky back to life. When word gets out about Victor's experiment, other classmates try to bring their old pets back to life but something goes wrong with the experiments & the town is now being attacked by mutant pets. What will become of the pets & Sparky, you have to watch the movie to find out!
My son is 4 & one of my nieces that lives with us is 5 years old. Before I saw Frankenweenie back in September, I wasn't sure if I was going to let my son watch it but after viewing it, I saw that he was able to handle it. I watched the movie along with them & observed their reactions & I'm glad to say, they both did fine. They did jump on one part but they laughed it off and continued to watch the movie. So I'm glad to say that no, it wasn't too much for them & they enjoyed it very much. They've actually seen it more than once since we've gotten it & my son can't stop talking about how funny Edgar E. Gore is. (Check out my Still not sure if you should take your kids to see Frankenweenie? Check out these great parent reviews! post to see other parent's views on the movie if you're still not sure about letting your kids watch!)
We made a movie night out of it this past weekend & everyone loved it! As you can see, my son loves Sparky & Persephone & of course they had to see the movie with him too!
And a little fun fact – there are 24 frames per second in the stop motion for “Frankenweenie.” This means that the animator stops and positions the puppet 24 times to get one second of filmed action. That just makes me appreciate the movie that much more to know how much work went into making such a great film. And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks so as Frankenweenie was just nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film! 😀
So if you've seen it at the movie theaters & loved it or have yet to see it, now is your chance to go out & buy your own copy of one of the most popular & talked about animated films of 2012! 🙂
