With the Holiday Season in full swing, it's time to start dusting off the ol' recipe book & start cooking and baking for all of the parties that are coming in the following weeks. One oil that I make sure to have in stock always when cooking is my Vegetable oil aka Soybean oil. It is one of the most versatile ingredients that you can use in the kitchen. Helping you create all your favorite traditional meals without compromising taste.

 

United Soybean Board

I decided to bake a cake for a get-together that we were having but I wanted to try something different with the ingredients I already had on hand. That's when I found a yummy Biscoff Spread Cupcake Recipe that I just had to try. I made a cake instead plus substituted the Canola Oil with the Vegetable Oil & decided to not have frosting.

Biscoff Spread Cake:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup Biscoff spread

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1. First, you pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Put the flour, sugar, salt and baking soda into a large bowl & mix them.

3. Put the oil, sour cream, Biscoff spread, eggs and vanilla into a different bowl and mix until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Add the previous ingredients (flour, sugar, salt & baking soda) & mix. Bake for about 22 minutes or until it's cooked through. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely.

If you look on the back of your vegetable oil, the ingredients are 100% soybean oil. I never knew!

Cake Mix

The end result – so yummy! I'm glad I didn't add frosting. It's perfect as is & is delicious paired with milk or coffee!

I don't know if it would have tasted different with the canola oil but with the vegetable oil, it tasted delish! My whole family loved it! I use soybean oil to cook all the time but this was a first with baking. I'll definitely be using it more now!

    We only drink soy milk and I use it to cook with too. It's just as good if not better than regular milk and I like the fact the expiration date is so far out. We don't waste it like we did with regular milk.
